PT Unilever Oleochemcial Indonesia, a unit of personal care giant PT Unilever Indonesia, has sought for a tax holiday facility to benefit from the government’s 2011 policy, which promises such facility to investors meeting certain criteria.

Unilever Oleochemical, is developing an oil palm-based oleochemical production center in the Sei Mangkei downstream industry in North Sumatra with total investment of Rp 1.1 trillion.

“So far, there are two companies which have applied for the tax holiday facility including Unilever and PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical,” said Azhar Lubis, a Deputy at the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM).

The Minister of Finance in 2011 issued a tax incentive policy including tax holiday to help lure fresh investment into the country.  The criteria to obtain the tax holiday facility include minimum investment of Rp 1 trillion in certain pioneering industries. (rei)
