Ministry allocates Rp2.9 billion for agriculture program in Papua

Mentioned within the 2012 state budget is an allocation of Rp2.9 billion by the Ministry of Agriculture to administer animal husbandry, agriculture and food security programs in Biak Numfor regency in Papua.

The Jakarta Post reported today that the program is aimed at increasing the level of production, productivity and crop quality, as well as achieving the self sufficiency target.

"The budget was also allocated for the development of human resources in the agricultural sector and for programs of product diversification and community-based food security," said Biak Numfor Agriculture and Livestock Agency head Absalom Rumkorem on Tuesday. (eaz)
