Jakarta-listed palm oil company PT BW Plantation expects CPO production this year to grow by 20 percent as more oil palm acreage enters production stage.

Company Corporate Secretary Kelik Irwantono said that CPO production this year is targeted to increase to 132,000 tons from 110,000 tons last year.  “BWPT has set a target for CPO production to increase by 20 percent this year,” he told Kontan on Thursday.

Kelik said that as more of the company’s oil palm acreage becomes productive, fresh fruit bunch production will increase.  In the first quarter of this year, productive acreage expanded to 27,627 ha from 19,663 ha at the end of 2011.  “FFP production in May-June will be even greater,” he said.

Elsewhere, Kelik said that BW Plantation plans to expand acreage by another 10,000-20,000 ha this year in Kalimantan, which will thus increase the company’s landbank to 124,000-134,000 ha.  “The investment requirement for this land expansion is US$10 million.”

In the second semester of this year, the company also plans to operate a new CPO mill in Kalimantan, which will increase the total production capacity to 135 tons per hour from 105 tons per hour. (rei)
