PT Wilmar Nabati Indonesia, a local unit of Singapore-listed agribusiness giant Wilmar, plans to produce bio jet fuel from palm oil.  The company is in the process of constructing the bio refinery plant in Gresik, East Java.

The company will invest between US$70-80 million in the jet fuel production project, said Executive Director Taufik Tamin during a recent press visit at the industrial complex controlled by Wilmar.  “We hope the plant could be completed by end of this year,” he said.

He added that the plant will have a production capacity of 500 tons per day.  “Our product could become a substitute of avtur,” Taufik said, adding that Wilmar is teaming up with Elevance Renewable Science Inc, under a joint venture, in the project.  (sonar)
