State-owned plantation company PTPN II plans to expand the production capacity of its CPO mills in North Sumatra and Papua, company Finance Director Nur Ali Dahbul said.

He was quoted by Kontan as saying Tuesday that the expansion will require investment of Rp 110 billion.  The project is expected to be completed by end of this year in the hope that the firm’s mill capacity will increase to 150 tons per hour from the current 120 tons per hour.

PTPN II expects CPO production this year to increase by 12.5 percent to 180,000 tons.

Elsewhere, Nur Ali said that the company also plans to raise 5,000 cattle this year as part of a program suggested by State Minister for State-Owned Companies Dahlan Iskan that palm oil related state firms to raise a total of 100,000 cattle.  Waste products from the oil palm plantation can be used to feed the cattle.
