Ministry launches digital calendar for food crop planting

The Ministry of Agriculture’s Research and Development Agency has launched a digital calendar for food crop planting particularly rice.

Head of the agency, Haryono said on Tuesday that the calendar take into account various information such as weather condition, acreage, and which crop variety is suitable for certain region.  The calendar covers information down to sub-district level.

The calendar will be very useful not only to help farmers and policy makers in deciding when to start planting season as well as deal with logistical aspects such as supply of fertilizer, seeds, and pesticides.

Businesses engaged in food crop production particularly rice will also get benefit from the digital calendar system, allowing them for better production planning. (Firman)
