RI to decide on rice import in April

Thu, 03/01/2012 - 08:50

The government will only make a decision on rice import after the completion of the grand harvest period in April, Vice Minister of Agriculture Rusman Heriawan said.

“Rice import will only be decided after April, or after the grand harvest.  What is being done right now is assessment work, we have not made any decision yet,” Rusman said Wednesday.

The State Logistics Agency (Bulog) on February 28th signed an MOU with Myanmar to import 200,000 tons of rice in 2012. (rei)
