PT Amway Indonesia has agreed to help distribute Gayo coffee from North Sumatra and Java blend coffee beans from East Java through its multi-level marketing network in Indonesia.

The coffee products to be marketed by Amway are those obtained from small traders which have received training program from PT Usaha Kita Makmur Indonesia (UKMI), which specializes in helping small-scale companies in Indonesia to improve quality of products and management, and expand the market of their products.

UKMI President Director Eva Riyanti Hutapea was quoted by Bisnis.com as saying that for the past year, the company has been helping some local coffee bean traders in North Sumatra and East Java to improve the quality of their products.  But UKMI’s program has yet to reach farmers level as it would require more time and funds, she added.
